Our mandate is to promote the heavy construction industry at McMaster and to act as a central liaison between civil engineering students and professionals in the heavy construction industry.
We organize student visits to heavy construction sites, where students are able to gain practical knowledge of the construction industry and see first hand the many diverse areas of work that are involved in heavy construction.
We present eligible graduating students with the heavy construction internship certificate. All recipients must take the construction management course and have obtained 8 months work experience in heavy construction.
We host many employers and management professionals at our annual industry night where we invite students to network and have the opportunity to learn about heavy construction from experts in their field and possible career paths within the industry.Â
The Heavy Construction Student Chapter was founded in 2012. As a club, we consistently strive to bring awareness to heavy construction and connect students to careers within the industry. We have a strong executive team that boasts ample experience in the heavy construction industry and are passionate about the work we do as a club.Â
Our team hosts more than one hundred students per academic year at our many events, designed to connect students with the heavy construction industry. We use social media and promotional events as a means to advertise the heavy construction industry to students on campus. Aside from our on-campus presence, we host high school outreach events to promote McMaster University, civil engineering and heavy construction to prospecting students. We strive to endorse the heavy construction industry and bring the passion and drive we have as a team for the industry to the rest of the civil engineering students at McMaster University.
