About Us:

McMaster Civil Engineering Society (McMaster CES) is a student-run club that works to connect students in the department with each other and showcase all the amazing clubs and teams that the Civil Engineering Department at McMaster has to offer. Our goal is to provide various activities and events that allow individuals to meet other students in their program, enjoy various events, and connect students to the many other technical, and competition-based clubs in Civil Engineering.

MEET OUR TEAM

BRADLEY STEPHEN 

PRESIDENT

Bradley is a 5th year Civil Engineering & Society student that has an interest in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering and is the current President. Bradley has been involved with the CES for the past three years, as the Troitsky Representative and then the Vice-President. Bradley has been on the McMaster Heavy Construction Chapter, McMaster Steel Bridge Team, and has taken part in the Troitsky competition. Bradley has also had internship opportunities at Black & McDonald and MTO.

KASSANDRA BOT

 VICE PRESIDENT

Kassandra is a 5th year Civil Engineering & Management student who is the current Vice-President of the Civil Engineering Society. Kassandra has an interest in project management and structural engineering and has experience working for Bot Construction, Harbourside Engineering and Metrolinx. Kassandra has also been on a McMaster Troitsky team as well as the McMaster Steel Bridge Team.

SAM MACKENZIE

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Sam is a third-year straight Civil Engineering student that is our current Director of Finance. Sam has been on the Civil Engineering Society as a year rep last year and is excited about his new role. Sam has also been on a Troitsky team and is interesting in structural and environmental engineering.

NICOLE SUTTON

DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

Nicole Sutton is in her 3rd year of Civil Engineering and Management. She has been apart of the MES, CES, and has participated in the Troitsky popsicle bridge building competition. For co-op, she has worked with the Ministry of Transportation Highways division but in the future she is looking towards the more structural, building science, and sustainability aspects of civil engineering. She is always open to meeting new people, so feel free to reach if you have questions about the CES, co-op, civil engineering, Troitsky, etc!

DHWANI RAO

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Dhwani Rao is a 3rd year Civil Engineering & Society student that is working towards a minor in business. Dhwani has participated in the Troitsky Bridge Building Competition and currently applies her business knowledge by running a small online shop. Dhwani is our current Director of Administration and is very excited for the upcoming year with the CES.

KATELYN WYLIE

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Katelyn is our current Director of Marketing and is in her third year of Civil Engineering & Society, and is also completing a minor in sustainability. Katelyn has participated in the Toritsky Bridge Building Competition, the Queens Space Conference, and has been part of McMaster Engineering's Student Ambassadors program. This year, Katelyn is the co-captain of the McMaster Steel Bridge Team. Katelyn enjoys industry work and has not yet decided what file of Civil to specialize in. This is Katelyn's second year on the Civil Engineering Society and excited for the coming year.

AHMAD OSMANI

DIRECTOR OF BRANDING

Ahmad Osmani is a 3rd year Civil Engineering student who is our current Director of Branding. Ahmad chose to pursue a career in civil as seeing how large, complex physical structures come together excite him. Ahmad has been with the Civil Engineering Society (CES) since he joined the stream as a year rep and have had a great experience so far. Although this coming fall semester has transitioned online due to Covid-19, Ahmad truly believes that the Civil Society will do its best to help everyone have a good and memorable time!

LIAM SYKES

MES REPRESENTATIVE

Liam Sykes is very excited to be the Civil Engineering Representative on the MES this year and is looking forward to his last year of the Civil Engineering program volunteering as a liaison between the CES and MES. Liam is in his 5th year of Civil Engineering and has had coop experience with Halton Region and Associated Engineering. Liam is interested in municipal infrastructure and project management. Liam has represented all of Engineering on the Student Representative Assembly for the MSU and volunteered as a Residence Orientation Representative for two years.

EMILIA NIETRESTA

FOURTH YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Emilia is in her fourth year of Civil Engineering & Society. Her involvement includes being the MES Civil Representative in 2019, Troitsky Competitor, Handbook Editor, Welcome week representative (Redsuit), MES Website Coordinator, and Sustainability Committee member. Her interests within Civil include Fluid Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Green Infrastructure.

MANUEL BERNARDO ALIENDRE

THIRD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Manuel is a third year straight Civil Engineering student that is one of our third-year representatives this year. As well as being on the Civil Engineering Society, Manuel is also on the McMaster Breaking Club. Outside of school, Manuel is involved with the nonprofit folklore group "Llasas de Bolivia".

SHERRY LI

THIRD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Sherry is in her third year of Civil Engineering and was a member of the McMaster Seismic Design Team and also the Civil Engineering Society. Sherry had an internship at JUJIANG Construction group in China and assisted the BIM design group in modeling using Sketchup and AutoCAD. Sherry is currently volunteering as a research assistant for a project related to accelerated bridge construction in seismic regions.

MAYA CARDUCCI

SECOND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Maya is a 2nd year Civil Engineering student, hoping to specialize in Structural or Transportation. She is from Hamilton, so don’t hesitate to ask about great places to go and amazing sights to see. Maya is always open to making new friends, and is very excited to see what Civil Engineering and the CES has to offer.

SHERIN KOTTARATHIL JERRY

SECOND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Sherin is a second year straight Civil Engineering student. Her interests include environmental, water resources, and structural engineering. She was an Engineering Ambassador in her first year and is currently a MES Sustainability Committee Member and a Women in Engineering Event Representative. Sherin is one of the second year representatives and is looking forward to her first year with CES!

MIHIR SHAH

SECOND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Mihir is excited to join the Civil Engineering Society (CES) as 2nd Year Rep. He is currently in his second year of Engineering and Management and is a member of the Seismic Team. Mihir is interested in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. He looks forward to meeting and connecting with others through CES events.

AJAY JOSHI

SECOND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Ajay is a second year Civil Engineering student and is one of our second year representatives. Ajay is very excited to help us plan and promote events for the academic year. Ajay is interested in Structural engineering and looks forward to participating in Troitsky and the Steel Bridge team.
