About Us:
McMaster Civil Engineering Society (McMaster CES) is a student-run club that works to connect students in the department with each other and showcase all the amazing clubs and teams that the Civil Engineering Department at McMaster has to offer. Our goal is to provide various activities and events that allow individuals to meet other students in their program, enjoy various events, and connect students to the many other technical, and competition-based clubs in Civil Engineering.

MEET OUR TEAM

SAM MACKENZIE
PRESIDENT
Sam is in his fourth year of civil engineering and is the current CES President. This is his third year being apart of the CES and has participated in Troitsky and the Seismic design team. He has an interest in structural engineering and heavy construction. He has spent two co-op terms in the construction industry and is currently working on the Eglinton LRT.

DHWANI RAO
VICE PRESIDENT
Dhwani Rao is a 4th year Civil Engineering & Society student that is working towards a minor in business. She has been a part of CES for the past two years, making this her third year with the organization. Dhwani has participated in the Troitsky Bridge Building Competition and currently applies her business knowledge by running a small online shop. Dhwani is our current Vice President and is very excited for the upcoming year with the CES.

AJAY JOSHI
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Ajay is in his third year of Civil Engineering and is our Director of Finance for the coming year. Ajay has participated in the Troitsky Bridge Building competition and has gained experience working as a Concrete Technician over the summer. Ajay is very excited to help us plan and execute events for the academic year.

NICOLE SUTTON
DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
Nicole Sutton is in her 4th year of Civil Engineering and Management. She has been apart of the MES, CES, and has participated in the Troitsky popsicle bridge building competition. For co-op, she has worked with the Ministry of Transportation Highways division but in the future she is looking towards the more structural, building science, and sustainability aspects of civil engineering. She is always open to meeting new people, so feel free to reach if you have questions about the CES, co-op, civil engineering, Troitsky, etc!

MANUEL BERNARDO ALIENDRE
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION
Manuel Aliendre is in his 4th year at McMaster studying Civil Engineering and is the current Director of Administration. This is the third year he has been involved in CES. Manuel is also a part of the Heavy Construction Student Chapter and the McMaster Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. He has gained experience previously working at Dufferin Concrete and Agnico Eagle Mines. He always looks forward to help students get co-op experience and engage within the McMaster student community.

MAYA CARDUCCI
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Maya is our current Director of Marketing and is in her third year of Civil Engineering, hoping to specialize in Structural or Transportation. She is from Hamilton, so don’t hesitate to ask about great places to go and amazing sights to see, Maya is always open to making new friends. This is her second year on the Civil Engineering Society and is excited for the coming year.

AHMAD OSMANI
DIRECTOR OF BRANDING
Ahmad Osmani is a 4th year Civil Engineering student who is our current Director of Branding. Ahmad chose to pursue a career in civil as seeing how large, complex physical structures come together excite him. Ahmad has been with the Civil Engineering Society (CES) since he joined the stream as a year rep and was the Director of Branding last year as well. Currently Ahmad is on co-op at Halton Region but will still be around to help the CES

CLAIRE BENOIT
TROITSKY REPRESENTATIVE
Claire is a 5th year Civil Engineering student also pursuing a minor in Art History. She has been a part of the CES representing Troitsky since 2020 and participated in the competition since 2019, also moving to a leadership role for the last 3 years. She is passionate about involving new students in the competition and ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment. Academically she is interested in structural engineering and loves to geek out about architecture!

MIHIR SHAH
THIRD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Mihir is excited to join the Civil Engineering Society as Third Year Representative. He is currently in Civil Engineering and Management. His interest include structural engineering and construction management. He is involved in the Siesmic Team, Civil Engineering Ambassador Program, and TimberFever. Mihir looks forward to meeting and connecting with McMaster's community through CES events.

SHERIN KOTTARATHIL JERRY
THIRD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Sherin is a third year Civil Engineering student. Her interests include water resources and structural engineering. She was an Engineering Ambassador in her first year, and is currently a MES Sustainability Committee Member and a Women in Engineering Event Representative. She is one of the third year representatives and is looking forward to her second year with CES!

MARYAM BUTRUS
SECOND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Maryam Butrus is in her 2nd year of Civil Engineering, hoping to specialize in Structural or Transportation. This is her first year being part of the Civil Engineering Society. She's currently the internal director at the McMaster HOPE team and has participated in MEC. Maryam is our current 2nd-year representative and is very excited for the upcoming year with the CES.
